Maimiez are stuffed animals that perfectly imperfect, just like us.

The idea started over 25 years ago when the kids and I were walking along the creek, enjoying nature. We happened upon a turtle walking across our path. We noticed that he only had 3 legs. Walking was tough, but he persevered. We lovingly named him “Tough Luck Turtle”.

Later that week, my daughter wanted to make a stuffed animal to honor “Tough Luck Turtle”. She was too young to use the sewing machine but she did a good job by hand.

As we admired her acheivement, we, collectively, thought, wouldn’t it be great if we created a stuffed animal line with imperfections. The idea incubated for a decade and was revived when my daughter made a stuffed animal duck in high school sewing class. Our second Maimie was born when she accidentally sewed one wing on backwards.

Another decade passed and many friends were asking when I was going to FINALLY bring the Mamiez to life. In 2023, the first '“litter” of cats and dogs was born and I gave them to just family and friends. The response was overwhelmingly positive. With the support of family, friends and even strangers, Maimiez are born.

Each Maimie is hand-made in the USA. They are always made with reclaimed fabric, so no two are exactly the same. With their imperfections, they are, in fact, perfect. Just like you!
